Capturing a landmark milestone as Essex & Herts Air Ambulance unveiled their new AW169 helicopter at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire.
Framing the Day: Heli-bration Event Photography
With a blend of documentary-style event photography and purposeful press shots, we captured the energy of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance’s Heli-bration event at Hatfield House as the charity unveiled its new AW169 helicopter. The day featured charity supporters, crew members and special guests, including celebrity ambassador Lisa Snowdon. From capturing those huge smiles, dynamic crowd scenes, busy stalls, emergency service vehicles and the more formal press images, our event photography showcased the scale and significance of this historic milestone. It was exciting to witness the AW169 landing and departing on a mostly sunny day, with many activities on the go, such as face painting, arts and crafts, emergency vehicle ride-ons, bungee runs, games and live music.

Powerful press images that sparked conversation and amplified awareness.
The Welwyn Hatfield Times and UK Director Magazines featured our images with a write-up of the event, helping to raise awareness of the charity’s life-saving work. With press photography coverage like this, we didn’t just capture memories – we produced timely, high-quality content ready for immediate press use. A fast turnaround ensured that EHAAT’s story reached the right audience at the right time, maximising visibility and impact – not only on news sites but on social platforms too.

Capturing the story, not just the scenes
For us, the best event photography strikes the right balance – from discreetly documenting the day as it unfolds while also capturing those posed photos of people who are key to the day and the overall story. That said, while traditional static shots once dominated the headlines, today’s news is often driven by images that truly reflect the atmosphere and energy of the event. In this case, it was Lisa Snowdon and the CEO, all smiles, that made the hero image, yet it could just as easily have been the helicopter in flight, children enjoying face painting, or the hands-on CPR training. For us, it’s about capturing the moments that reflect the day, telling the story for those who weren’t there.
